July 15, 2010---Left Jeffersonville, IN with Louisville, KY behind us and traveled upriver 39 miles in 5.2 hours to Madison, IN. First order of business was to tie up at the Lighthouse restaurant for lunch at mile 558.
While at the Lighthouse a tow passed by. Towers at the Clifty Creek Power Plant can be seen in the background.
After lunch we went back downriver 1 mile to the Rivercrest Marina. Threaded our way to the back of the marina and tied up in slip A-2 with 50 amp power.

By the time we figured out where to go from the marina the heat had caused an urge for ice cream. Had Hilltop Taxi take us downtown to Madison Creamery. Enjoyed some fine ice cream and met friendly folks there.
Madison Fair Play Fire Co. No. 1 was erected in 1875. The oldest volunteer fire company in Indiana.
Scenes of the city of Madison. There are 133 blocks on the National Register of Historic places. The city was established in 1809. Grew in prominence as a trade center with the arrival of steamboats.
Madison is recognized as "The prettiest Small Town in the Midwest" by Ladies Home Journal and "Best Preserved Town in the Midwest" by the Chicago Tribune.
Certainly enjoyed the "Stimulus Package" in front of the winery!
