Aug. 3, 2009---What a beautiful day to travel the Tennessee River. In order to show the boys a variety of things we traveled upstream to experience the Chickamauga lock which lifts 48’. Continued upstream to mile 499.4 and turned srarboard. Went up the Hiwassee River 2.5 miles and turned port into a well protected cove. Total distance traveled today 38.4 miles. Clint had a good time operating the boat much of the way. We set the anchor and put the dinghy in the water. Spent the afternoon swimming and riding around in the dinghy. Enjoyed some fine hamburgers from the outdoor grill and played games with the boys. I call still them boys or kids but Chris is 18 and his good friend Ty is 15. They are visiting from Alaska. After a few days on the boat Clint will take them back to Louisiana and the two boys will fly back to Alaska.

By the time Chris made his last rotation into the water it was nearly dark.
