LORETTA LYNN'S RANCH

Oct. 3, 2009---Used courtesy car from Pebble Isle Marina and drove to Loretta Lynn's Ranch about 15 miles east of here. The ranch is located on Hurricane Creek in a lovely wooded area.

October Song Fest 2-4 was being held at the ranch.
It is a song writers festival where the writers come for training and an opportunity to sing their songs. Several stages areas were set up for them to present their material. Cost $5.00 per person to go and listen to a variety of singers.

A very nice showing of fall flowers on display in a wagon at the entrance to the ranch.

Hurricane mill and dam were built in 1896. Restored by Loretta and Moony Lynn. The original mill predominately made cornmeal and flour which was shipped all over the south.

Allen with mill in background.

Keith and Maryann on the steps leading to the grounds in front of the colonial style home.

Richard and Jory Lakeman joined us on the trip to the ranch. They are also boaters. We certainly ejoyed our time with them.

Singers and writers of all ages were presenting their songs.

State flags hang from the steel beams. It appeared that all the states were represented in the stage area.

Enjoy the sound of the waterfall at the old mill.
The video below it has some wind noise, but it does show the main stage where performances were taking place.
