DEMOPOLIS - END TRIP

Raised anchor and prepared to leave
Sumter Recreation Area. Boat launch
seen in the distance. Plenty of floating water
hyacinth to dodge around. Can be a nuisance
if tangled in the props.
Aug. 12, 2012---Heflin lock was the only one today with another 30 feet down. It is located 4 miles down river from the Sumter Recreation Area. Made 53.3 miles in 6 hours to reach final destination at mile 216.7.  What a fine trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee and back! Total distance 966 miles. Went up 572' and back down the 572' in 28 locks. Burned 843 gallons of diesel for an average of 1.14 miles per gallon. Actual travel days was 20 out of the total 38 days spent in the States of Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Approaching Demopolis, Alabama

Tug at fuel dock. Not a problem,
tied up on the far side of the dock.
Took on 212 gals of diesel.

Left the fuel dock and prepared
fenders and lines for tie up
in assigned slip at Kingfisher Bay Marina.
