June 13, 2009---Carol has some things she needs to acomplish in Youngsville, LA so she bought a ticket home. The Delta flight was leaving Chattanooga at 6:00 a.m. so we had to get up at 2:30 a.m., after already loosing some sleep from the storm last night.
Why so early? Well, the time zone line is about half way between where the boat is in Halestown and Chattanooga. Therefore in the 30 mile trip we lose an hour going into the central time zone. After getting her all checked in, I returned to the boat. Of course on the drive back I recovered that lost hour of time but still felt deprived of sleep.
Look back in the archives and click on Guntersville/Bats. Finally got a little video attached to the bottom of that days info. It is nearly dark, but looking closely over the water the bats can be seen coming out of their cave. It also shows some of the other boaters that had come to view this daily event.
Drove to Chattanooga for the closing of the 29th Annual Riverbend festival. What a night! "Little Richard" performed on the main stage. He and his band are outstanding. Immediately following was the fireworks show. It was spectacular! With the grassy slope and cement terracing the entire area provides a wonderful vantage point to see the colorful display. The river was shut down all evening for the final activities so boats could anchor anywhere in the area.

Sounds like I missed the best part of the festival.
