CHATTANOOGA

Left Goose Pond Colony Marina at 7:00 a.m.
Turned to port in main channel on Tennessee River.
Haze ahead. Traveling 10 mph in 28 ft of water.
July 21, 2012---Quite a travel day. Went 85.3 miles in 10 hours and burned 85.3 gallons of diesel. Wonder how many miles are made per gallon! Crossed from Alabama to Tennessee at mile 416.5. Traveling north at this point about 6 miles from the northwest corner of Georgia. Arrived Chattanooga at 5:00 p.m. Tied up on the wall below the Tennessee Aquarium. This marina is operated by Max Marine. Video below is like a silent movie. Intended to just show what the river and surrounding terrain looks like when riding along. Taken from the stern where the hum of those diesel engines is always a welcome sound to the captains.

TVA's Widow's Creek Plant at mile 399.
The 1000' tower is one of the tallest structures
in the Tennessee Valley region. Looks extra tall
with the reflection on the water.

Four PWC's exiting Nickajack lock at
mile 424.7. This lock has a 40' lift.

Osprey in large nest built on channel marker.

l

CSX train barely visible thru the trees at
base of cliff about 4 miles down river
from Chattanooga. TN

Ran into rain but visibility was okay
and showers only lasted a few miles.

Tennessee Aquarium tour boat.

Dark cloud hanging over Lookout Mountain
near Chattanooga. It is said 7 states can be
seen from top of this mountain. Tennessee,
Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina,
North Carolina, Georgia & Alabama.
Highest point on this mountain is 2392 ft.

Upon arrival at Chattanooga first order
of business after securing the boat was
a short walk to dinner at Genghis Grill.

Carol is most happy because she is
standing on solid concrete. No rocking motion.

Maryann is most happy because we arrived at destination.

It's good to see Dream Manor on the prowl again. Those diesel engines sound sweet.
